What We Do Day-to-Day

Locally, Miller County juvenile probation officers carry out the same responsibilities outlined by Arkansas law, but with a community-specific focus:

• Intake & assessment: We meet with youth referred by law enforcement or the courts, evaluate risks/needs, and determine supervision levels.
• Supervision: Officers monitor compliance with court orders (school attendance, counseling, curfews, restitution, etc.).
• Court liaison: We prepare reports for judges and testify about a youth’s progress.
• Diversion efforts: When possible, we steer youth into community-based programs rather than formal adjudication, reducing reliance on detention.
• Community coordination: Officers work closely with schools, treatment providers, and local organizations to support rehabilitation and accountability.
